Training Workshop on Basic Research Methodology

An Online Training on Basic Research
Methodology was held from 1st to 3rd December 2021 with motivation from Dr.
Rishi Goel Director SCERT Haryana. The introductory session began with a
welcome to all the participants and emphasis on the importance of research by
Ravinder Ailawadi Dy. Director SCERT. He said that Education is an integral
aspect of every society. Educational research must become a priority in a
progressive society. Research plays a vital role in the overall development of
pedagogy, learning programs, and policy formulation. He said educational
research is a spectrum that bothers on multiple fields of knowledge and this
means that it draws from different disciplines. As a result of this, the
findings of this research are multi-dimensional. He said that every teacher
should undertake research.
The session began at on Zoom platform with
Ms. Rupam Jha, Programme Coordinator, briefing the participants about the
training. The participants also shared their expectations from the training and
also the relevant topics on which they personally would like to conduct
research studies.
The 1st resource person was Dr. Rajender
Pal from NCERT New Delhi who introduced what is research and told participants
to dispel any fears they have regarding research. In the 2nd session, Dr. D.N.
Sansanwal (Retd. Professor) delivered a lecture on Title, Objectives/ Research
Questions. A Day Brief was conducted by Ms. Rupam Jha in which participants
spoke about their experiences of the day and also mentioned that there was
clarity in their minds regarding research. A Google form bearing 5 questions
based on the lecture of Dr. Rajender Pal was shared on the Whatsapp group with
the participants.
Day 2, during the feedback session by Ms.
Rupam Jha, Dr. Suman Sharma Wing Incharge addressed the participants and
all queries too were resolved. Dr. Sansanwal took the first session on
Sampling types and procedures. Dr. Alka Singh of CIET, NCERT took the 2nd
session on Data collection, tools and techniques. The highlight was an online
quiz at the end of the session with a leader board as well. The Day brief was
all talk of the quiz.
Day 3 and in the feedback session
participants had doubts of the task assigned to them, the making of a research
proposal and it was decided that the research associate would take a brief
session on writing a research proposal. The 1st session by Dr D N Sansanwal on
Data analysis & interpretation, followed by Dr Sangita’s session on Report
writing. Instead of the Day Brief, Dr. Sheenu Dahiya, Research Associate, REAP
Cell SCERT explained in brief about what is a research proposal. Sunil
Bajaj Dy. Director SCERT concluded the 3 day training with the valedictory session
and also asked the participants to promote research and what they learnt in the
training among their colleagues. The participants were to answer 5
questions in Google form based on Dr. Sangit’s lecture. The participants were
given a week’s time to submit their research proposals online to REAP Cell.
From the Tech Team, Sh. Ankur Bharadwaj
junior programmer, created the Zoom link and live streaming on You Tube too was
done by him. Devanand, data entry operator, created one of the two Google
forms.
