Blood donor rescues life and humanity
Arun Kumar Kaharba
People often
talk about blood relationships while talking. In the conversation of people,
you hear lots of things about your blood and blood relations. Perhaps this is
where a misunderstanding of racial and ethnic superiority is born. Being blind
in ego, man begins to think of others as inferior. There is no scientific basis
for this superiority gland. Yet due to this there have been many wars in the
history of the world. Hardliners such as Hitler gave birth to brutal ideas like
fascism. While pretending to be the superiority, they killed millions of Jews.
Even behind communal and communal riots, it also acts as a psychoanalytic
supremacist of racial blood. On the other side It is implied in the message of
blood donation that blood flowed in human beings rather than flowing in rivers
or streets. When a family needs blood for illness or accident, then the
importance of blood donation is revealed. Then, in the form of blood donation,
we also feel the sense of the religion of humanity.
In order to
promote blood donation and respect blood donors, the World Health Organization
decided to celebrate Blood Donor Day on 14th June. The question is why finally
that day was chosen for the blood donor day. Landstainer made significant
contributions to medical science by classifying the blood A, B, AB and O in
different blood groups. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his
contributions to physiology. To make his birthday memorable, this day was
chosen as Blood Donor Day. The motive was that blood was not trade. At the same
time, the Health Organization laid the foundation of 100% voluntary blood
donation policy. But so far only about 49 countries have implemented this.
According to
the World Health Organization, India needs 10 million units of blood every
year. But only 75 lakh units are available. About 25 lakh units die every year
due to lack of blood. According to statistics, there is a requirement of 3 lakh
50 thousand blood units per year in Delhi, but only 30 per cent of the
voluntary blood donors collect. The Delhi which is the same is from the rest of
India. It is not unreasonable that even though India's population has reached
over a billion. The number of blood donors is not even a percentage of the
total population. According to experts, blood donation of only 59 percent of
the total blood donation in India is voluntary. There are many countries in the
Third World who leave India in this case far behind.
The glory of
blood is not hidden from anyone. With blood, our life goes on, it can also save
the life in danger due to accident or disease. Blood is not made in the factory
and there is no artificial way to make it. At the same time, the process of
becoming blood in the human body always keeps moving. Medical science says, any
age 18 to 65 years and 45 kg Any healthy weight person can donate blood.
Provided he or sheis not suffering from HIV and Hepatitis B and C. Only 350 mg
of blood is given at a time. The supply of the blood is made within twenty four
hours of the body and the quality is filled up within 21 days. Those who give
regular blood donation to the heart related diseases are less disturbed. The
most important thing to know is that the structure of our blood is such that
the red blood cells contained in it end up in three months itself. Each healthy
person can donate blood once in three months. According to experts, half-liter
blood can save the lives of three people. But one important fact is that blood
can not be stored for long periods of time. There are many people in India, who
are awaiting blood donation. In the Indian Army, Major Suresh Saini has donated
blood 123 times. He performed a ritual of blood donation before marriage to his
daughter. Similarly, M.C. Dhiman as District Training Officer in Karnal Red
Cross Society has donated 59 times. Whenever someone needs blood, they contact
the blood donors to help in fulfilling their needs.
Despite all the scientific facts and figures,
there are many misconceptions about blood donation in society. There is a false
assumption that the body becomes weak by blood donation and it takes months for
the blood to be recovered. It is also a misconception that due to regular blood
transfusion the immune system is low and it accepts disease soon. These
misconceptions are so deeply rooted that people get upset by hearing the name
of blood donation. How can the work of humanity such as blood donation be
promoted through these confusions? A comprehensive awareness campaign is needed
to create a climate of voluntary blood donation while removing misconceptions.
For this, you have to communicate with the people. Blood donation has been an
important contribution to humanity. By promoting the blood donation trend, we
will move towards world peace, harmony and brotherhood.
